Alexander Schimpf, Germany, joins the list of successful, well-known prize-winners among Mitsuko Uchida, John O'Connor, Stefan Vladar, Jasminka Stancul, Oliver Kern and Herbert Schuch.

After two tensioning rounds in the finale he convinced the jury members with the Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, op. 37 under frenetic applause from the audience, taking the first prize of € 7.500,- and - symbolically - the key to a Bösendorfer grand piano model 200 worth € 67.830, - donated by L. Bösendorfer Piano Factory Ltd.

The third prize has been awarded to Ji-Hoon Jun and Chi Ho Han ex aequo, both born in Seoul, South Korea.

Diplomas and special awards went to Christian Chamorel (Switzerland), Yi-Chih Lu (Taiwan), Yusuke Kikuchi (Japan), Amir Tebenikhin (Kazakhstan), Sheng-Yuan Kuan (Taiwan), Andreas Donat (Austria), Anna Magdalena Kokits (Austria), Christopher Devine (United Kingdom) and Clemens Berg(Germany).

The performance of all participants in this anniversary competition - the competition has a 50-year history - was at exceptionally high level. The international jury has met a decision with great responsibility.

The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Stefan Vladar, the only Austrian winner of this competition, led the finalists through the evening sensitively.
